Top 6 Group Activities in London This Christmas

It’s officially silly season here in London, which is the magical (and sometimes frantic) time before Christmas where we all tend to go a little overboard with festivities to celebrate the upcoming end of the year. Whether you’re planning an office party or trying to corral the squad into one final get together before the holidays, we’ve rounded up the best venues in the city perfect for group activities. If you fancy a free round-up of all the best restaurants and spots in the city for big get togethers, check out our full Guide to London’s best party venues on our app.

For a casual pub sesh…

1. Big Penny Social, Walthamstow

Around for over 350 years, Big Penny Social is practically an institution in East London. Set in a hip, warehouse style microbrewery, its Beer Hall is the ideal place for larger get togethers, especially as they allow walk-ins for the slightly disorganised. Alongside limited edition beers on tap, they also hold weekly events, from fun Christmas parties to rowdy live sports days - perfect for a final festive blow out.

For a fun night out…

2. Fairgame

An indoor fairground - but for adults only? Sign us up. Fairgame is London’s first ever funfair-themed activity bar, with all the classic games like skeeball and whack-a-mole that’re fully digitalised so you can compete with all your friends at the same time. With a virtual leaderboard - and ultimate bragging rights to be won - it’s a fun night out complete with a street food market and fairground themed cocktails like prosecco-infused candyfloss to enjoy after.

For ladies night…

3. Doña

Tucked away in Stoke Newington, Doña is a vibey spot run by, and for, women. With stunning interiors draped with plush pink fabrics and incredible ambience set by low-lit lighting, the bar features plenty of live music and excellent Mezcal cocktails - which may be sorely needed after the annual secret santa gift giving!

For a meal that isn’t Christmas themed…

4. The Blues Kitchen

Serving up delicious American BBQ classics and New Orleans soul food, The Blues Kitchen is a great choice if you’re already feeling a bit tapped out by Christmas and looking for a non-festive feast with friends (trust us, we get it). With badass burgers, the crispiest chicken buffalo wings, and also live blues music played seven nights a week, expect dancing, soulful tunes, and a cracking good time.

For walk-in spaces…

5. Padella, Borough Market

One of the best things about Padella - aside from their freshly made pasta in the window, eight-hour slow cooked beef shin ragus, chic ambience, and excellent price point - is the fact that they don’t accept reservations at all. An added bonus? Their virtual queue system, which means you can sign up to queue online, and enjoy a few drinks at one of the many pubs and bars in the area whilst you wait.

For going out out…

6. Hootananny’s, Brixton

There’s nothing ordinary about a night out in Brixton - and much like its name, you’re in for a hoot at Hootananny. With live music every Wednesday to Sunday, not to mention a delicious pub and buzzing beer garden to complement the stage, the venue actually encourages walk-ins and groups, making it the perfect place for a final stop on an epic night out.
